So excited that there was no falling back asleep? I wish it were still that simple sometimes. Most times when school is cancelled, the base goes down to essential staff only, so there is no one here but my kids. However today, this did not happen. Eight kids all together which is not bad. When Micah got up, the first thing I said to him was there was to be NO FRIENDS over today as we already had a houseful. And now most of them are outside playing. Love it. Funny how the cold is forgotten when there is snow on the ground and some mysterious animal lurking about. (Don't ask 'cause I don't know). :)

Snow Day almost

Why is it when school is cancelled (which I KNEW would happen) or there is none or whatever, that every kid in the neighborhood decides that my house is the place to congregate? This adds up to insanity ruling.

The dog also decided that my new glasses were a delisiouce treat in the middle of the night and acually got a big hole in one of the lenses. Alyssa who doesn't seem very interested in talking, has discovered "NO". Just wish she knew which context to use it in all the time.
"Do you want some juice?"
"No" as she is taking the cup and taking a drink.
"Do you have to pee?"
"NO" Of course her pull-up is now full and she is running around happy. Heaven forbid you stop playing to do something as trivial as use the bathroom.
However she does mean it whe I ask her if she wants anything healthy. Thr fitst annual Peewee AA tournament was hosted in Middleton, and to our surprise, the boys came away with the silver medal. So, I went to Walmart and we let her pick out her own potty. She picked a Dora the Explorer one. Well... she loves to sit on that thing. It has not even been a week, and she tells me all the time when she has to TEE... that is pee in Alyssa language. Mommy tee, mommy tee. she of course tells me this even when she doesn't have to but, just in case, off we go. I have never see a baby pee so much in my life! At least fifteen time today, for real and then four accidents. That is not including when I put her down for a nap and forgot to put a pull up on her. My bad on that one.
Anyways, she is doing wonderfully. No she just has to realize that she doesn't have to sit on the potty every time she has to fart!!!! :)

Let it snow

Here are some pictures after the first snow fall. So much to do still, and yet such a wonderful time of year that it doesn't seem that big of a deal. This is the most wonderful time of the year. I love it when my children are excited and mostly happy. I love having a hold over them too. If you do that again...
Micah's new quote is, " I know how much my parents love me by how expensive the toys are!" Man, we must not love them too much. hahaha
Other than that, I also love the colours and sounds of Christmas.

MOMS

My Mom is down for a couple of days, and can I just say that I love having my mom here. It is so nice to have her here to go shopping with. Pick up thomas when Alyssa is napping, and of course just to sit and have coffee and conversation with. I think that I will keep her and poor Dad will just have to adjust. But then he would have to live on toast and sandwiches and that wouldn't be nice either. HMMM... Well okay, she can go home to him on Wednesday. That is when he is flying in from Holland, which he spent three weeks there with Kathy. They had a wonderful time, and the Eiffel Tower is really high, I am told!

Wow! It has been a while.

For the whole weekend, we were up in Sackville at a hockey tournament. Micah's team lost every game but oh well. They played pretty good the last game. So we stay over Saturday night to be with Esther and chuck and Alyssa, is sick. And I mean gross sick.

On Sunday we return home, but not before Mike and the boys go to the Acadia Vs. NHL oldtimers game. Alyssa and I shop for a while but I am not feeling that great and just want to go home. Mike tells me to get healthy, because I am always complaining that I am sick. WELL, in the middle of the night, I am so sick, that I can't stay out of the bathroom, then Thomas comes up, runs into my bathroom door and pukes all over the floor. Try cleaning that out of carpet at one in the morning. He then proceeds to sleep on our floor, and throw up every hour. He stays home all day and sleeps all day. I mean all day. Woke up and six at night, and went back to sleep, at eight-thirty. Alyssa, who we thinks is better, is laying with me on our NEW WHITE couch. See where this is going? Yes she spews orange juice all over me and the couch. What am I more concerned about? Yes my couch, and her of course. She ends up sleeping with me last night as well. Both of the kids still throwing up. Thomas is home from school, again today. And Alyssa is now curled up in is arms sound asleep. On the plus side, I am feeling better and even showered and everything. I paid Micah to stay home yesterday and look after Nick, so I could lay on the couch and sleep. He earned his money as he looked after Nick, Alyssa, and me. Gotta love older kids!

Another day, another dollar?

Does the whole wednesday thing mean that you get to take a day off, or that you should really clean your house? It started pretty good at seven thirty with the dog coming to wake me up. Alyssa slept from eight to eight which was great. Thomas had hockey at eight forty-five, andso off we were. I decided to take the van and let Mike take the car and than trade when he took Micah to Canning. Turns out, Thomas' practice was in Kingston. This I found out after taking him to Greenwood. Call Mike he says its in Kingston( would have been nice to know beforehand). AND HIS PRACTICE IS TWO HOURS LONG!!!! So cold.
ANyhow, Mike comes to take the van, and is gone for about five minutes before I realize he did not pass me the keys to the car. Can I just say that it is a good thing I am friendly and know quite a few people. One man drove us home, while another lady loaned us her car seat for Alyssa. Because who knows where the extra set of car keys are. Not me.
Morale of the story. But the most amazing thing has happened. The other night around 8:30, Michael said, "Alyssa, time for bed". She got up kissed her father, took my hand, led me to her crib, and tried to climb in!!!! I know... my boys were never like that. I think they screamed "NO".

So then last night, we were out late grocery shopping, and after we got home and I changed her into her jammies, I thought she might like to play for a couple of minutes. Nope, she got up waved for daddy to come here, and showed him her crib to put her in. Right to sleep like a little angel. AHHHHH finally a good child to put to bed.( thomas is sitting here reading this as I type, so I have to rub it in a little bit. hahaha...

These are pictures that my wonderful sister gave to me for my birthday. I am thankful because I left my laundry out on the line last night and now they can dry again from the semi-frost we had last night. Also Thomas has a race today in Middleton and it is always nice to have great weather for that.

Alyssa and Nick are acually starting to play together now which is nice. She doesn't really want to share her toys, but she does because I force her too. Luckily, he wants to play with mostly cars and trucks and the such. But it is kind of cute to see them chasing each other around and laughing. This is soooo great, but the bad thing is that it is only October 1st. So what to do. Take a nap, watch some football which I love and relax. Oh yes and change the living room around, but I can't get it the way I want it. Help!

And it is not my birthday! That would be the 7th. I refuse to turn thirty before I absolutely have to. And that is not until 11:45, Saturday morning. Honestly, where has the time gone. Not that I would want to do it again for anything. There has been important lessons learned, that I would no want to do all over again. Getting through the first five years of marriage for one thing. YIKES. Thomas is scaring me because he is coughing so much. I have given him my puffer a bunch of times and that seems to be helping a little bit. Alyssa is to young for that, but her poor nose won't stop running. Last night was the first time she slpet through the night in four nights. Now just to convince Mike that he should too... except now I am babysitting a three year old boy and thinking that four kids would be nice. Mike and I said that we should have had one in between Thomas and Alyssa. I have done four loads of laundry and hung them all out to dry. the last two loads should be done by the time we are home from baseball.
I only had the two girls today, and of course my own, so it was pretty queit in the house today. The boys went swimming at a friends house and Alyssa and Jenna napped. Ah... the peace.
Now of f to the ball field for a game between the peewees and us. Should be interesting. Thomas is playing again so he is happy. But I do lose my Alyssa chaser. Ah, well, I am the mother!!:)
I think that I should coach next year and Mike should have to chase her. He will see why I am so tired at the end of a ball game. No sittin around for me.
Back to the beautiful day. Love the sunshine and cooler temps.

OOPS

Well our tournament is in Middleton not Berwick. So if any of ya'll want to see some action packed baseball ( not really) come and watch us! Thomas is playing on Micah's team this weekend and is really excited about it. It will be the first time he has ever played with a team, and I hope he will do good. He does well in sports so I shouldn't worry too much.
Anyway, drop by, though I don't know the hours yet. We will of course be going to Benson's as that is the treat when we go to Berwick. Yummy ice cream!
I have to go exercise to get in shape for all the food.

Katherine the Mighty Part II

Well, I received a phone call from Kathy saturday night around midnight, which would have been seven in the morning where she is at. She said she was doing good and that she had to go out and "play". I didn't think much about it until I saw the news the next day. I have been a news junkie for a while now, but now even worse.(Kathy hates that I leave the new on and it repeates itself at least every halfhour!). Anyways, she is obviously all right, but with the news the next day, I felt sick to my stomach all day thinking that she had probably been there. She is still my little sister, and I would do anything to protect her.
On the funny side when she called, she asked me to send her flea collars for around her boots to keep them away as they are driving everybody crazy and that seems like the best solution!!!!
Stay brave, stay safe Kathy and we love you here.

Old Friends

So, yesterday, I went to a baby shower of an old friend. I t was so great to see people that I haven't seen in years. Renewing old friendships has got to be one of the best parts of life. How many kids? Married? Everything that is going on. Just this time we have to stay in contact with each other. We can't keep having babies in order to see each other. Although some of you should have a couple more!
Anyways, it was nice to talk of old times, memories, and the current events in everyone's lives. Who knew that a puppy could bark and cry and howl all night. Last night, first it was the dog, then Alyssa, then the dog, and then Alyssa... I Finally put Alyssa in with us and discovered that the dog was coming through the baby moniter. So I shut that off, shut my door, and who knows what happened next. Not me I finally went to sleep.
I am sure it was Mike and the boys who wanted that dog, so why am I the one getting up with it? Ahhhh, and then every morning reminding Micah that if he would take the dog out when he got up, the dog would not pee on his carpet. On the plus side, he hasn't done number 2 in our house except the first night. Now is I could just train Alyssa.....

Church

So... after being away for so long, we decided that it was a good idea to go to church tonight.
Where was everbody? She seemed in good spirits and almost relieved that the time was here. Maybe the waiting is the hard part. I thought that I did really good, I didn't cry until we were off the phone and then only for a little while. I am so scared for her. A sisters bond is something isn't it? We share everything and love so much that it hurts me to see her away in such a volitile place (even if she doesn't seem to mind going at all). I can't even really express my feelings on this. She's my sister but we are and always have been best friends along side of Esther. The thing about Kathy is she is really tough and nothing seems to get to her too much. she holds it inside and I sometimes want to know what she is really thinking. Isn't she scared, or we all scared enough for her?
Anyways, I know that the Lord will protect her from harm if it is his will, and we have really nothing to fear. It seemed to really fly by this year. Of course, if I had been able to see all of the games instead of chasing Alyssa, that would have been nice. Oh well, them's the breaks of have a baby.
Thomas team lost their last game, which was a disappointment. they were undefeated until now. I blame the ref... hahaha.
Micah seemed to have a good b-day. Got his ear peirced, and we promised him a dog. What were we thinking? Stupid promises. Time to stock up on allergy pills.
We also got new furniture, white, with three kids. Again, what were we thinking!?! Today, Esther, Chuck, and darling babies came down and so did Mom and Dad. Just missing Katherine, and seriously, we did miss you Kathy.
We sat around and talked about nothing, ate pizza, and did my favorite thing. Held the baby. I might have been a little selfish with her, but they are only this tiny for so long.
I look at Micah, Thomas and Alyssa (who looks so big next to Anika) and think that you better enjoy every step they take and every move they make, because soon they will be too big to cuddle the way you want to. Though sometimes you have to just grab the older ones and hold on tight because they will always be your babies in your heart.
I love you Micah, Thomas, and Alyssa.

It's a busy and wonderful life

Ever think what it would be like not running around to sports, birthday parties, sports, vbs, school, and oh did I mention sports?
Boring, that's what it would be.
